Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know before you say yes.
About Learning
What exactly will my child learn?
Three skill sets that matter for the next decade: AI fluency (how to direct and collaborate with AI tools), product thinking (how to plan, design, and iterate on an idea), and a shipping mindset (how to finish something and put it into the world). Every project produces documented portfolio artifacts — a PRD, a decision log, and a published game.
How is this different from just playing games?
Playing games is consumption. Kychai is creation. Your child writes the product brief, makes design decisions, chooses game mechanics, publishes to a real audience, and analyzes play metrics. They build a PRD, maintain a decision log, track version history, and review how real players interact with their work. That is not playing — that is building.
Does the AI do all the work?
The AI writes code. Your child makes every other decision — what to build, how it should look, what happens when a player loses, whether to add a power-up or remove one. The AI is the instrument. Your child is the composer.
Does my child need to know how to code?
No. Zero coding knowledge required. The AI handles all the code generation. That said, for kids who are curious, we include a Code Lens feature that lets them peek under the hood, see the code the AI wrote, and start understanding how it works. But it is completely optional.
What ages is this for?
Kychai is designed for kids ages 8 to 14. The AI adapts its language, complexity, and suggestions to match your child's level — a 9-year-old and a 13-year-old will have very different experiences, both appropriate and challenging for their age.
About Safety
Can strangers contact my child?
No. There is no chat, no direct messages, no comments, no friend requests. Zero social features that allow strangers to reach your child. Period.
Can strangers see my child's games?
Only if you, the parent, explicitly allow it. All games are private by default. You control sharing permissions from your Parent Dashboard. Your child cannot change this setting on their own.
Is Kychai COPPA compliant?
Yes. Kychai is fully COPPA compliant. Only parents create accounts. We collect no personally identifiable information from children. All data handling follows COPPA guidelines, and we undergo regular compliance reviews.
Can I see what my child is doing?
Everything. The Parent Dashboard gives you full transparency into your child's activity — every project, every AI conversation, every decision they made, and how they spent their time. Nothing is hidden.
Is the AI safe for my child?
Yes. Our AI is filtered and constrained specifically for children. It cannot generate inappropriate content, violent themes beyond age-appropriate game mechanics, or anything outside the scope of game creation. Every AI interaction is logged and reviewable by parents.
About Pricing
Is there a free version?
Yes. The Starter plan is free forever. Your child can create projects, use the AI assistant, and publish games. The free plan includes limited projects and AI generations per month, but it is a real experience — not a crippled demo.
How much does the paid plan cost?
The Family plan is $17 per month. It includes unlimited projects, unlimited AI generations, advanced analytics in the Parent Dashboard, priority support, and up to 3 child profiles.
What if my child doesn't stick with it?
We get it — kids can be unpredictable. That is why we offer a 7-day free trial on the Family plan and a 30-day money-back guarantee. If it is not working, you get your money back. No questions, no hassle.
What happens if I cancel?
Your child's projects are safe. They are never deleted. Your account moves back to the Starter plan, so your child can still access and play their existing games. They just cannot create new projects beyond the Starter limits.
Is there a school discount?
Yes. We offer special pricing for schools and classrooms. Reach out to education@kychai.com and we will put together a plan that works for your school.
About the Product
What devices does it work on?
Any device with a modern web browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. Desktop, laptop, tablet. No downloads, no installs. Just open your browser and go.
How long does it take to make a game?
Your child can have their first playable game in 2 to 5 minutes. Seriously. From there, they can iterate and improve it over hours, days, or weeks — adding levels, tweaking mechanics, polishing the design. The first win comes fast.
What kinds of games can they make?
Endless runners, arena battles, platformers, puzzle games, top-down adventures, clicker games, and more. The game engine supports a wide range of genres and mechanics, and we are adding new capabilities regularly.
Can siblings share an account?
Yes. The Family plan includes up to 3 separate child profiles under one parent account. Each child gets their own projects, their own portfolio, and their own progress tracking.
